WONDERDAG

What is Wonderdag, you may wonder...

"Wonderdag" are days of wonder and of wonders...
The word came from mixing up "woensdag" en "donderdag" (Wednesday and Thursday) , which my husband's cousin did when learning the days of the week in Dutch.

He was there when our daughter was born, and that was the first day we called Wonderdag. Many other wonderful days and moments followed, and I would like to remember and share some of these here.

big steps

...Just over a week ago now that our little boy made his first BIG STEPS - not his first steps without support ever, but clearly and certainly the first time he WALKED. Playing with his dad, crawling backwards, peek-a-boo from behind the table, and then: standing up on his feet, leaving the table and tiddle-toddle, tip-tap, back to daddy...
Now he knows he can walk and isn't going to stop any more. And though I knew this would somehow be a big moment, I hadn't expected it would make me feel so proud, and glad... It really is a BIG thing for a little human being to learn to walk!
Then yesterday, one week after his first ever walk, he had his first walk outside: straight away into the snow and on the ice of the frozen canals! My little gnome standing on his own feet in this big, wide world... So many things ahead - and such a big step made already!
